  • I go back to my tent for breakfast and then return to 3 Of 7's group for some final pics.
  • A rainy morning and slow gear-up.
  • Someone's pack in Naked Ground.
  • Rain falls as Chadd's group prepares to saddle up.
  • Time for a final map review.
  • Trip leader shows the map and their route out---on Seven Mile Ridge to Hangover Lead South to Hangover Lead North to Yellowhammer Gap and Tapoco trail down to Tapoco Lodge.
  • Chadd's brother's pack.
  • Chadd's pack. Chadd mentioned the SEALs using Mystery Ranch packs and his biggest load? 300 lbs.
  • By 10am the 11 backpackers head east on Seven Mile Ridge and go one by one spaced out in 45 second intervals.
  • Chadd says goodbye.
  • Trip leader brings up the rear and it's so long guys.
  • As the group packs up it starts to rain so I decide to stay put and embrace Sunday's big storm but a miracle happens when blue skies come out so I pack fast and leave Naked Ground Gap and in 3 hours I reach High Dog Camp on Little Santeetlah Creek on NG trail.
  • Day 5 starts in rain but I get out of High Dog Camp and cross Dog side Creek in crocs and hike in a light cold rain in shorts and t-shirt and check out Little Santee Creek from the trail.
  • Little Santeetlah Creek on Naked Ground trail.
  • A nasty blowdown which takes forever to cut cuz my corona saw is worn out with no kerf.
  • Fixed.
  • The Killer Frog eats another hiker.
  • Just his hat is left.
  • Nice wooden footbridge on Naked Ground trail.
  • An open view from the trail.
